Shriyanka secures Asian airgun bronze

Ace Odia shooter Shriyanka Sadangi tasted international success by winning bronze medal in the junior women 10m air-rifle event of the ongoing 8th Asian Air-gun Shooting Championship at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi today.

Sadangi shot 185.4 to finish third on the podium behind Iran`s Najmah Khedmati, who shot an impressive 208.9 to win the gold medal with a world record score and silver winner Fatemeh Karamzadeh (208.3), who is also an Iranian.

Shriyanka had taken a break from shooting to concentrate on studies. She recently graduated from St Stephen`s College, New Delhi and is now pursuing her Masters from Delhi University.

India`s Ayonika Paul bag the bronze while Apurvi Chandela missed out on the podium finish after a disappointing outing in the final of women`s 10m air rifle event.

Besides Ayonika`s achievement, India had a gold medal and one more bronze through Aashi Rastogi and Prachi Gadkari in women`s 10m air rifle youth category.
